Aid and Attendance FAQs

Q. What does VetAttend do?
A. We help veterans or their surviving spouses, who qualify for a special Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefit known as “Aid and Attendance,” to remain in the comfort of their own homes and receive assistance with non-medical services. We assist in the application process, including assembling and filing all necessary paperwork. We also provide home care workers, schedule and oversee care.

Q. What is the Veterans Aid and Attendance Benefit?
A. In 1952 Congress passed Title 38 of the United States Code, creating the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and authorizing benefits for veterans. One of these benefits is the Non-Service Connected benefit, with “Aid and Attendance.”

This benefit is part of the Veterans Benefit Program, and was designed to provide financial aid for war era veterans to help cover the cost of long-term care at home. Even though the benefit has been around for 60 years, very few people know about it or understand how it works. Contact us today to help you or a loved one pay for non-medical home care.

Q. I don’t know if I qualify. How do I find out?
A. Call us or enter your contact information on our Contact Us page. One of our application specialists will ask you some preliminary questions to assess your qualifications for the benefit. It only takes a few minutes of your time to determine if the “Aid & Attendance” benefit is for you.
